Gaynor's Hunter Horse Stable

Aug 05, 2024

Author: Lisa Smith

Outpost Buildings customer Gaynor Tahitahi lives north of Auckland in Pakiri where she has a lifestyle block and she recently purchased a Hunter Stable for her much loved horse, River.

As an older horse, she was wanting to create some shelter for him so he could be stabled in bad weather and to allow him to come in overnight so that he’s not always standing on wet, muddy ground during winter. She also wanted a tack room where she could keep all of his grooming supplies and stable equipment together in one place.

Gaynor originally found out about Outpost a couple of years ago when browsing Trade Me for a small paddock shelter and when, out of curiosity, she dived into the “other listings” she quickly discovered the world of Outpost Buildings.

So earlier this year when she needed a stable for River, she contacted Outpost to check out the options.

“In conversation with (manager) Greg, I then discovered that Outpost Buildings are manufactured in Silverdale which was another bonus because I was then able to go down and meet Greg and discuss in more detail the options I wanted,” she says.

The design of the Hunter stable means that, as well as providing shelter, Gaynor also has a place to groom River and the attached tack room means everything is where she needs it. Previously, she had to make do with a small metaled area by the side of one of the paddocks, which was awkward, inadequate and not sheltered from the elements.

“I’m absolutely stoked with it- particularly the tack room. That was what appealed to me when we were thinking about buying it. It’s quite large, I’ve managed to get everything in there for two horses, plus all the stable equipment. It also has lovely interior light with the clear roofing panel,” she says.

She had a local builder assemble the kitset and she has since stained it black to add to the aesthetic and to help protect the timber.

She says she knew she had made the right decision after a couple of days when she came home and saw all the cladding on and roof rafters in place. “It was very exciting after making do for so long.”

Gaynor also purchased the Small Backyard Shed which she has stained to match her stable.

When asked if Outpost Buildings has met her expectations she says, certainly!

“I am thrilled with the product. It looks attractive but it has also made life so much easier. I love walking into the tack room and having everything at my fingertips, she says.

“It also makes such a difference buying from a small, family run business which is dedicated to providing excellent service. As we live on a lifestyle property, I have no doubt I shall be needing another outbuilding of some description in the future and I will certainly choose Outpost Buildings again.”

Testimonial

“We bought the Hunter stable from Outpost. I’m absolutely stoked with it, particularly the tack room- that was what appealed to me when we were thinking about buying it. It is quite large, I have managed to get everything in there for two horses, plus all the stable equipment.

River loves it as well, it means he can come in at night and he doesn’t get wet, muddy feet and it limits his propensity to mud fever so we are both really, really happy with our Hunter stables from Outpost.” – Gaynor Tahitahi, Pakiri.
