The benefits of an Upland garden shed
An upland garden shed offers heaps of storage, unmatched durability, fantastic looks and could improve your property value.
Here's a rundown of the benefits:
Organisation
An Upland garden shed gives you the space you’ve always wanted to help store and organise your tools, making them easy to find and retrieve when you really need them. Forget searching for your missing toolbox in the garage - invest in an Upland garden shed and keep your equipment on hand.
Better aesthetics
Reduce the clutter from your garden with an Upland garden shed. Our sheds provide you with a dedicated place to keep your tools, keeping them out of sight and giving you the opportunity to enjoy your garden as it was meant to be enjoyed - errant equipment not included.
More space
Don’t let your tools and equipment take up space in your precious living areas. Space is always at a premium, and an Upland garden shed will help you declutter your garage and keep your tools in a shed instead.
Higher property value
Every homebuyer loves more storage space. If you’re trying to sell your home, a shed shows your potential purchasers that they can easily fit their lives into the property with room to spare, encouraging them to add a few more dollars to their offer.
Get creative!
We design our kitsets to be fully convertible and customisable. They can be anything from art studios to home offices to workshops. The only limit is your imagination!

Frequently Asked Questions
Do Upland garden sheds need a base?
While many other styles of garden sheds require a foundation, we’ve designed our Upland garden sheds to be portable. This means no need for a foundation and a lot more choice in where you can place it.
We do this by using tough, durable materials, including sustainably grown New Zealand pine, which makes up the framing of our sheds. We also use it in the timber skids that our sheds are mounted on, allowing the sheds to be towed by a 4x4 4WD.
This means no digging, no pouring of concrete, and none of the other hassles of a traditionally built garden shed. You just need a flat area for the shed to sit on. Just grab some basic tools and a friend with some basic handyman skills, and you could have your Upland shed ready to go in just a couple of days.
The fact that you don’t need a base for your Upland shed also means that you can bring it with you to a new property - or even sell it on to someone else, putting some money back in your wallet after your initial investment.
Do you need a permit to build an upland garden shed?
Thanks to recent law changes, there have been a raft of new consent exemptions made for “low risk” work. Many of these include pre-fabricated kitsets, such as our Upland garden shed range. One less thing to have to worry about when building your shed!
However, it’s important to check that your intended shed and your intended use for your shed will be covered under these new exemptions. Protected work such as plumbing and wiring still requires a professional sign off, and may impact your need for consent as well - but please note that Upland sheds don't usually need a consent unless the person is wanting to put it hard up against a boundary or add electrical wiring or plumbing.
Due to the different rules in each region, we encourage you to get in touch with your local council with any questions that you may have about whether or not you’ll need consent.
Is it cheaper to build a shed or buy an upland garden shed?
Building a shed from scratch can be expensive! Hiring a builder, sourcing materials, dealing with consents, finding the right design and the best spot on your land - it can all take a lot of time and money to deal with.
That’s why we decided to do something about it.
Our Upland garden kitsets come with everything you need to build it yourself or work with a professional builder to put it together if that’s your preference. The framing, the cladding, even the nails and screws are all included, as are easy to understand step-by-step instructions. Building your shed is a simple, straightforward process, and because you don’t need foundations for your build, you can get it completed in just a couple of days.
This means that you spend less on labour - or even nothing at all if you decide to DIY.
This dedication to simplicity is also reflected in our shipping policy. We freight your chosen kitset to your closest Toll transport depot, free of charge. We’ll even organise a hiab truck to get your kitset to your site if you like, for a small additional fee.
So stop worrying about building your shed, and start planning how you’re going to enjoy it!
