Our large sheds are strong, relocatable sheds in a range of designs suitable for garden sheds, workshops, motorbike sheds or tack sheds.
All large sheds have strong NZ timber framing and quality corrugated iron roofing (Colorsteel options available).
The benefits of a large shed
Sometimes, bigger is better, and an Outpost large shed provides all the benefits of a regular garden shed, but with even more storage.
+ Free up space. Don’t clutter up your home. A large shed gives you all the storage area you need outdoors to clear out your garage or your attic and free up some additional living space.
+ Get organised. Got more tools than you know what to do with? A large shed provides you with the storage you need to keep them organised, ensuring you always know where your equipment is when you need it - and ensuring you always know they are locked away and protected too.
+ Easy access. Large sheds from Outpost Buildings are great for keeping your tools on-hand for your next project, making sure you don’t have to trek into the garage every time you want a new piece of equipment.
+ Convertibility. Our largest sheds can be converted into workshops with attached storage, ensuring that you always have your hardware and materials to hand when you need them. Take the effort out of your next project by treating yourself to a dedicated storage and workspace.
+ Improved looks. A stray lawnmower or errant spade can easily spoil the view of your land. Help keep things tidy and tuck away the more unsightly additions in a large shed.
+ Boost property value. A large shed can be the difference between an offer made on your home and a potential buyer passing it by - storage matters more than you might think! Up your storage capacity and buyers will up their offers.
+ Customisability. Unlike metal or plastic sheds, large wooden sheds can easily have additional storage options added to them, such as shelving, tools racks and more. All you need is the storage item, some screws, and some basic tools - customise your shed to your heart’s content.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the biggest size shed you can buy?
If you’re looking for some serious space - a shed with enough room for your tools, feed, lawnmower, barbecue, with space to spare - then look no further than the Large Settler Garden Shed.
This 7.2m x 3.5m x 3.5m kitset is the largest kitset shed on offer from Outpost Buildings, boasting two sets of double doors, a strong plywood floor, strong 6x2 inch timber framing and the option of adding a dividing wall; great for turning it into a workshop with attached storage, or even a his & hers separated shed.
Like most Outpost kitsets, the Large Settler Garden Shed is built, using NZ-made materials, but also designed to be portable. If you find yourself with the need to shift your shed to make more room for a new project (or even move the shed closer to an existing project), all you need is a tow rope and a 4WD.
This is a big shed, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be flexible too.
Do you need planning permission for a large shed?
While most typical garden sheds are exempt from the consents required for free-standing structures, you are required to get consent if you are planning to build a particularly large shed.
You can read more about the exemptions here, but it boils down to this for kitsets like Outpost Buildings: if you are purchasing a portable kitset that will result in a single-storey detached shed larger than 30sqm, you will need to get planning permission.
None of our sheds are larger than 30sqm, so there’s an excellent chance you’ll be able to get a consent exemption, depending on how you plan to use your shed and other factors.
If you’re concerned about your large shed and its potential consent ramifications, we recommend getting in touch with the team. We may be able to advise you on the right product to fit your needs.
What are our large sheds made from?
Every Outpost shed is built tough - perfect to withstand even the harshest of weather that New Zealand has to offer. That’s because they’re designed by Kiwis, for Kiwis, and sourced from Kiwi suppliers.
The timber that forms the framing and wall cladding is sourced from sustainably grown pine forests right here in Aotearoa, while the iron cladding is ZINCALUME or Colorsteel. Our choice to support other Kiwi businesses means that not only are we supporting our fellow business owners, but we’re also ensuring that you get the highest quality of materials for your kitsets.
In your large shed kitset, you can expect to find:
Durable treated timber 6x2 framing
Exterior grade 15mm plywood walls
Heavy duty 6x4 inch skid mounted base
Ply flooring included & clear roof panel for natural lighting
Corrugated Zincalume roofing
Colorsteel upgrades available
Galvanised hinges & pad bolts
