The Beginning: A Father and Son’s Dream
The name "Outpost" was originally chosen for its connection to the rugged, durable design of our buildings. Every structure is built to be strong, functional, and versatile, with an aesthetic that fits perfectly on farms, lifestyle blocks, and backyards across the country.
A Family Affair: Still Proudly Kiwi-Owned
Fast forward to 2025 and Outpost Buildings is still a family-owned business, proudly managed by Alex and Lisa Smith. Together with Lisa’s stepfather, Greg Cox and the dedicated Outpost team, including Corey and Andrea and our manufacturing teams led by Jon and Tony. We’ve worked hard to maintain the same values that the business was founded on: quality, durability, and customer care.
Our small but passionate team combines friendly service with expert product knowledge and practical advice. With years of experience working together, we know our products inside and out, and we’re committed to helping you find the right solution for your needs.

Today, we operate two factories- one in Silverdale and another in Timaru- where we continue to produce top-quality buildings. We offer free kitset delivery to transport depots New Zealand wide.
