What is the biggest size shed you can buy?
If you’re looking for some serious space - a shed with enough room for your tools, feed, lawnmower, barbecue, with space to spare - then look no further than the Large Settler Garden Shed.
This 7.2m x 3.5m x 3.5m kitset is the largest kitset shed on offer from Outpost Buildings, boasting two sets of double doors, a strong plywood floor, strong 6x2 inch timber framing and the option of adding a dividing wall; great for turning it into a workshop with attached storage, or even a his & hers separated shed.
Like most Outpost kitsets, the Large Settler Garden Shed is built, using NZ-made materials, but also designed to be portable. If you find yourself with the need to shift your shed to make more room for a new project (or even move the shed closer to an existing project), all you need is a tow rope and a 4WD.
This is a big shed, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be flexible too.
Do you need planning permission for a large shed?
While most typical garden sheds are exempt from the consents required for free-standing structures, you are required to get consent if you are planning to build a particularly large shed.
You can read more about the exemptions here, but it boils down to this for kitsets like Outpost Buildings: if you are purchasing a portable kitset that will result in a single-storey detached shed larger than 30sqm, you will need to get planning permission.
None of our sheds are larger than 30sqm, so there’s an excellent chance you’ll be able to get a consent exemption, depending on how you plan to use your shed and other factors.
